Beyond Cream: Craft Café-Style Nitro Cold Brew with Your N2O Whipper
Tired of flat iced coffee? With just an N2O cream whipper, you can easily create velvety-smooth Nitro Cold Brew with a rich, creamy foam at home. This technique, once exclusive to professional cafes, is now within easy reach.
The appeal of Nitro Cold Brew lies in its infusion of high-pressure nitrogen (or N2O) into cold-brewed coffee, creating countless microbubbles that deliver a velvety, creamy texture and a naturally sweet taste without added sugar.
Now, with your Pagani Whip cream whipper, recreating this experience at home is surprisingly simple:
What You'll Need:
Pagani Whip Cream Whipper (1-pint capacity or larger recommended)
1 x Pagani Whip N2O Charger
300-400ml Cold Brew Coffee (medium-dark roast, steeped for 12-24 hours, is recommended)
(Optional) Simple syrup or flavor extracts
Step-by-Step Guide:
Prepare the Coffee: Pour the filtered cold brew coffee into the clean cream whipper. Do not exceed the maximum fill line indicated on the bottle.
Seal and Charge: Tighten the head. Load 1 N2O charger into the holder and screw it onto the head to puncture the charger. You will hear a hissing sound as the gas enters.
Shake to Infuse: Once charged, shake the whipper vigorously up and down for about 15-20 times to ensure the gas is thoroughly integrated with the coffee.
Rest and Dispense: Let the whipper rest for 1-2 minutes. Then, invert the whipper and gently press the lever to release excess gas (catch any liquid in a glass). Turn the whipper upright and slowly press the lever to dispense the nitro coffee into a chilled glass.
Appreciate the Layering: A quality nitro cold brew will show a beautiful layered effect, with a dense golden foam on top and dark coffee below.
Pro Tip: Always keep the coffee liquid cold (refrigerated is best) before charging. Higher temperatures will affect gas solubility and the final texture. Feel free to add vanilla, caramel, or other flavored syrups to the coffee before charging to suit your taste.
